VauNess Thacker Stott 1934 ~ 2009 VauNess Thacker Stott, age 92, passed away June 11, 2009 from natural causes.She was born Sept. 11, 1916 in Charleston, Wasatch Co., Utah to Charles David and Alice Jane Wagstaff Thacker. She was #6 of 12 children. She was raised in Charleston and graduated from Wasatch High School where she played the saxophone in the school band. She married Wesley Stott from Meadow, Utah in the Salt Lake Temple on Oct. 25, 1934. They have three children, Yvonne (Varnel) Parkinson of Salt Lake City; Frances (Douglas) Gale of Parowan; and Nyle (Connie) Stott of Delta. They lived in Meadow, (Pioche, Nevada), Milford, Beaver and Salt Lake City. She enjoyed growing flowers, painting ceramics and Sunglow ornaments, painting on pillowcases, making beaded calendars and playing her organ. She is known by her neighbors as "The Flower Lady". She liked to attend her grandchildren's musical programs and graduations. They were thrilled to have her come. Jesus Christ was her guide and comforter. She knew "She was never alone". The family wishes to thank all of those who have given her support and help in her life, especially during the last month with special thanks to Joe Spencer and Hearts for Hospice. She is survived by her three children, two sisters, Luella Hellewell, Mae Wright, and two brothers, Lowell and Lyle Thacker, 11 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: LaPrele Stoker, Lela Morgan, Ida Carter, Lois Bonner and Carma Crook, brothers: Heber and Floyd Thacker, one grandchild and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held June 13, 2009 at the Rose Park 9th Ward, 790 North 1200 West at 12:00 noon with a viewing at the church 10:45 to 11:45. Interment at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road. Arrangements are made under the direction of Larkin Mortuary. | ||
